3. Some of the filmed work from this class will be included in the June event - That’s A Wrap Film Fest! Details will be announced during the season.

4.  Previous or concurrent experience with the fundamental aspects of stage acting (including: voice, text analysis, expression, intention, character) is an asset and may be a requirement of admission to this Program.

The program builds on the foundational elements of screen acting taught in the Junior and Intermediate-level programs. More advanced work focuses on technique and terminology when on-set; involvement in more defined characterizations (text, voice, physicality, subtlety, reacting as opposed to acting, etc.).  We introduce basics of film production elements like storyboarding and framing, and how that knowledge helps actors deliver an even more natural and ‘real’ on-screen performance.  The class works with provided and original materials to film a variety of scenes, monologues, commercials, trailers and short films.

Attention is given to:  on-set technique and terminology; creating the illusion of spontaneity, and defining and structuring the frame….. ultimately leading towards filming scenes and monologues. Students engage in a wide variety of activities that develop their Naturalness, Listening, Characterization, Subtlety, Concentration, Spontaneity and ability to Improvise - all the elements  needed for an assured screen performance.
