"OUR COMEDY OF ERRORS!"

For beginner through to advanced students wishing to develop their acting skills in an exciting training environment where you'll produce a play for performance

Explore the core elements of drama. You’ll examine voice, body, movement, characterization, speech, and thematic communication, through script and scene study.  When preparing for a role every actor asks 6 questions: WHO AM I? WHERE AM I? WHEN AM I? WHAT DO I WANT? WHAT IS MY OBSTACLE? HOW DO I GET WHAT I WANT?

Adult programs at Ovation! offer a unique educational and social experience.  Adults come to classes like ours for a variety of reasons.  You may be looking to try something new, or to get back into something you’ve always loved but have been away from for awhile. Whatever your motivation, and regardless of your current ‘level’ of expertise (or not!), taking an acting class will always.........  Boost your confidence & self-esteem  <> Improve your presentation skills (oral and dynamic) <> Exercise your body, mind, and soul  <>  Provide joy and fulfillment! We will learn how to answer these questions during class work and rehearsals of our chosen materials.  The Course Director, in consultation with the cast, will determine a theme or through-line for the season’s performance, and together you will choose a variety of monologues, dialogues, scenes, sketches and/or short plays to produce in performance – called “Our Comedy of Errors!”  Our aim for each piece will be to achieve complete integration with the inner life of the character . You will learn to experience the strong forces that drive him or her, how to pursue that powerful want, and how to recognize what is stopping you – because conflicting needs and obstacles are what create Acting!  Material choices will be finalized after enrolment in the fall, and specific casting will be done internally through studio work.

*Performances: One:  this class production is mounted in April; - date is TBA.  Additional rehearsal and production hours will be required when mounting the spring show
