Ovation’s! Approach and philosophy for teaching beautiful dancers!

Ovation! works with established professional instructors who teach dance from a different, expanded perspective. The question these days for anyone teaching dance is to compete or not to compete?   At Ovation!, we don't believe in paying high-priced competition companies for the privilege of showcasing our students in performance. The only people who really ‘win’ at these competitions are the people producing them and the studios who ‘buy-in’ to the hype.

Ovation! is in the arts/education field. That doesn't mean we don't think the arts are competitive.  They are.  But they're also collaborative and supportive (these are the more positive 'ive' words!).

What we do believe in, is TRAINING and PERFORMING. The only way to gain experience and exposure is by performing in front of a live audience.  That’s why we showcase our students and classes in performance at a wide range of events in and around our community.  Click here to read about some of these events

Students who want to learn, improve, dance and perform in this kind of environment, are given the opportunity to create something meaningful for their audience and for themselves.

Here's our take on costume fees and age-appropriate choreography, music and costumes ~ kids are only 'kids' for 18 years! Let's not rush them into looking and seeming older.  They have many years ahead to be adults. We let kids be kids, and we work with them at the various stages of kid-dom.  That doesn't mean they do 'silly' or 'immature' choreography - they do the type of movement to the kind of music in the style of costume that matches their age and maturity level.  Costume fees are usually less than $100 - we want to see the students perform and we want to see that their technique is sound and stable.

That's what's important.
