Once upon a time ....... Literally, the characters and stories will be jumping off the page and into 'real life'!  Let the excitement begin!

This program is a fun and unique educational and social experience, which explores the world of acting within the framework of storytelling. Children will be engaged in a variety of drama ‘games’, exercises and activities, designed to bring characters, poems and stories to life.  There’s really no right or wrong in acting class and students are encouraged to try, experiment, and contribute their ideas as they discover the value of their own ‘voice’.  These young children will use a variety of materials and will also create stories and characters of their own, working towards a demonstration/performance involving tableaux, reader’s theatre, movement and acting.  Some prop and costume elements may also be incorporated into the class. The curriculum is progressive in nature including concrete goals and milestones.  Consistent and punctual attendance is necessary to foster student learning and achievement throughout the season.

The creativity and imagination at 'play' in these programs are cornerstones for building confidence and self-esteem in our children.

Performances:    In January, these students perform an in-studio showcase demonstration for parents/families to observe, during regular class time at Ovation!  Then, in May, these students also do a demonstration and showcase – sometimes this also happens at Ovation! during regular class times and sometimes it’s held at a small studio theatre on an alternate date – stay tuned – details will be announced during the season!  (Additional rehearsal hours may be required for the May demonstration – details TBA.)
