Master Class Through Performance

For a limited number of intermediate to advanced students wishing to develop their ‘triple-sensation’ MT skills in a demanding training environment where you'll produce a musical for performance.  This program prepares students for post-secondary studies and performance.

Students learn how to create and weave a variety of songs, scenes, dances and monologues from both the traditional and contemporary musical theatre canon into a comprehensive and cohesive story and musical theatre production called Ovation's! “SHOW OF SHOWS!”.

Focus is on instruction and development of solo and small and large ensemble work in all 3 'triple sensation' elements. This class is also integrated with the students in the Intermediate MT Program every 2 or 3 weeks, either arriving early or staying later than usual for additional skills development and show rehearsal.  Materials are chosen and specific casting is done internally through studio work in Sept/Oct.

**  NOTE: should it be deemed necessary by Ovation! faculty, students at this level will be required to augment their overall training by enrolling in Private Classes or in the Fall Session of designated programs (at a discounted fee rate), to focus on the most demanding and under-developed discipline(s) in their personal ‘triple-sensation’ arsenal.  To be a musical theatre performer, you must have strong technique and performance qualities in each of the dedicated disciplines:  SINGING, DANCING, and ACTING.

*Performances: Three:  this class performs a piece at the Winter Showcase; the SHOW OF SHOWS! production is mounted in early April; and then a brand new piece is worked for performance in the spring Get STAGEstruck! show at Markham Theatre.  Additional rehearsal and production hours will be required when mounting the spring shows.
